The Patch Notes Episode Four: And We Thought We Were Social…

Almost as if Schmidty’s words at the beginning of this episode were some sort of jinx, we’ve got another late episode this time around. With school starting for most of us, please do understand that the podcast can’t always be our priority. We’ll keep doing whatever we can to get the episode out as quickly as possible, and then more recorded afterwards. Although the news items might be out of date, the topic of the week certainly might still be worth a listen! Stay social out there!

Princess Rae joins us as a special guest (Hey, we’re all co-hosts!) to discuss being social in RuneScape and Jagex’s normal slew of updates, this week including graphical and audio changes, players galleries galore, and even more RuneFest competitions.

In this episode:

-Topic of the Week: Level 138: is it worth it socially?

-Regular discussion of this week’s updates and newsposts: graphical and audio updates, Clan Citadel wallpapers and shirts, players’ galleries, RuneFest competitions, and the seemingly now-annual Golden Joystick Awards newspost, the patch notes, hot forum topics, and quick poll.

The Patch Notes Episode Three: A Rusty Hiatus (and Some Important Information)

We’re back with another episode after an unprecedented three-week hiatus! After originally recording an episode that never saw the light of day on the podcast page, we set to record episode three just last week and make up for all of the most important and relevant news we had missed during our hiatus, which made us quite rusty on the aspects of podcasting, still making for a fun and interesting show. Believe it or not, it does take a lot to get the show published, and sometimes the weekly article makes it feel as though it was a breeze, but getting this episode out sure tested our limits! Before we get to our usual links and description however, there’s some business to take care of first- presented in bullet form, just like our episode descriptions!

-We now have a Facebook page! Don’t get us wrong on what we’ve said on the air before, it was only Jagex’s one-sided love affair that Facebook that we disliked! We don’t want to force anyone by far, but if you like our work with the podcast, then keep the discussion rolling on our Facebook page!

-This marks our first episode in which we’re using music licensed under Creative Commons. How were our selections? If you’d like to suggest music to use for future episodes, please send us your suggestions to thepatchnotespodcast@gmail.com or our social media accounts. You can use http://ccmixter.org/http://freemusicarchive.org/http://www.jamendo.com/, and http://www.archive.org/details/netlabels to aid you in your search. As many of these songs’ licenses include the “share-alike” clause, we will be reuploading both of our previous episodes and licensing our podcast under Creative Commons in the very near future. If you’d like to help us find suitable intros and outros for these as well, just follow the same guidelines given above.

-Although we tried our best to describe the volatile economic situation we’re facing in RuneScape, we could’ve gone much farther with research! It’s a shame we hadn’t thought of this much before, but starting next episode, we’ll be researching our topics more thoroughly to ensure a good discussion for all!

-It’s starting to feel like a Jagex newspost in here, but one more thing- we’re now recording on a set schedule until further notice! We’re going to see how 5 P.M. CST on Sundays goes, as this time will allow those of us with work, church, or school to attend to finish all of our own personal projects in good time first.

Now on to our links!

The Patch Notes Episode Two: Ignoring the Floating Sky in the Castle

From last Wednesday to today, it’s been a struggle both recording and producing the latest installment of The Patch Notes, as we’ve run into technical difficulties more times than we could count! We’ve had to delay the podcast for a day, record through a nearly two-hour show without , subsequently cut about 20 minutes of it (On a flight and in Nicaragua, nonetheless!), and wait through scattered thunderstorms and heavy rain to upload on unreliable internet service. The finished product is late this week, but we’ve got some interesting topics for you in the show to make up for it! Hopefully this doesn’t happen too often, and as always, please send us your feedback and let’s get the podcast on the right foot… or the best foot possible!

The Patch Notes RuneScape Podcast

Hey there (Or as this WordPress interface is greeting me, howdy!), I’m YakHunta! I’m a new member on the RuneSlayer Network, and I’m certainly excited about finding more good folks to interact and talk RuneScape with, and that’s exactly what some of the RuneSlayer admins have brought me in to do in announcing a community podcast hosted on the RuneScape Times site itself! This podcast has been in the works for quite a while now, with my desire to create one increasing with each listen of great RuneScape podcasts like RSBandBUpdate!, System Update, the PrimeMar RuneScape Podcast, and other now-defunct shows available on iTunes, so I’m all-too ecstatic that it’s finally live! We’ve had our troubles, like rounding people up to finally record the first episode (Grr, time zones!), and our failures, like trying to upload to free podcast hosting services (Podbean, it’s only 23… more… megabytes…) for two hours before Anthony and Boomer-One graciously offered to set up a page for the podcast on the RuneScape Times, but we’ve already managed to have a lot of fun and great discussion, which is hopefully evident considering the events that transpired on the first episode! I might not like using the word “ado”, but without any further ado, the inaugural episode of The Patch Notes co-hosted by Boomer-One, Desilord10, and myself (shoutouts to Sky Armada and Greenzorz, who were scheduled to co-host as well, but unfortunately couldn’t)!
